Beside PHP there is also ASP from Microsoft.
Sorry for the fans of ASP, we will not cover this technology here.
PHP is the basis for interactive and dynamic websites.
While a pure HTML-website is delivered from the server to your Webbrowser
the PHP-part of a website runs on the server
and only the HTML-part is delivered to your Webbrowser.
